Yogalady8 is me, Patricia Levy. Why Yogalady8? Once the daughter of a private Yoga client of mine answered the phone when I called. She called out to her Mother "The Yoga Lady is on the phone", and I thought to myself, Yep that's me. (The 8 is for the 8 limbs of Yoga.)
While practicing on a Yoga mat that had a design, I discovered that my right hand was always slightly in front of the left hand while in the Downward Facing Dog pose. I had no idea that I was practicing a misalignment and had been practicing "crooked" for years. My first Yoga teacher's training taught me that the back leg and foot of the Warrior poses were working toward a 45 degree angle. So what does 45 degrees look like? Now we will both know by using the Third Eye Alignment Mat. This doesn't mean that you have to make your foot go onto the 45 degree line, it just gives you an indication of the angle that you can work toward. The foundation (the parts of your body that touch the ground) will mandate the alignment all the way up your whole body. When I began teaching Yoga I noticed that some of my students often placed their hands, feet, and knees "out of whack" and they had no idea of what even or straight placement was. I know that this design has helped me to find better balance and now I am so pleased to be able to offer it to you.
There are endless ways to use the Third Eye Mat as a reference for better placement and I hope you enjoy your practice with a new insight and confidence.
